WICHITA, Kan. - A program designed for south central Kansas homeowners who are new to the responsibilities of taking care of a lawn will be offered on several dates and locations in Sedgwick County.
    
"The New Lawn-Owner Program is intended for people who are new to caring for a home lawn or are looking for some basic information about home lawns in south central Kansas," said Kansas State University Research and Extension horticulture agent Rebecca Bandli. "Participants will learn the bare basics about soil, types of grasses
and caring for grass using non-technical language."
    
The two-part classes, sponsored by K-State Research and Extension, will be offered on several dates during 2009.
    
The cost for each class series (Parts 1 and 2) is $10 per person or $15 per couple, due in advance of the first class. Spring class dates, times and locations include:

oJan. 22 and Jan. 29 - 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. - Sedgwick Co. Extension Center, 7001 W. 21st St. N., Wichita;

oMarch 17 and March 24 - 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. - Sedgwick Co. Extension Center, 7001 W. 21st St. N., Wichita;

oApril 18 (Parts 1 and 2 on same day) - 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. - The Water Center, 101 E. Pawnee, Wichita;

oMay 14 and May 19 - 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. - Bel Aire City Hall, 7651 E. Central Park Ave., Bel Aire, Kan.
