Kirwin man killed in crash

KIRWIN — Randall D. Robbins, 55, of Kirwin, was killed shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday when the sport utility vehicle he was driving struck a semitrailer head-on.
The crash occurred on Kansas Highway 9, about a quarter of a mile west of Kirwin.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Robbins was eastbound on K-9 and the semitrailer, driven by Gary D. Tucker, 71, of Smith Center, was westbound. Robbins’ vehicle went left of center and hit the semitrailer, according to the report.
Tucker was taken to Smith County Memorial Hospital. His condition was not available.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol report.
