Salina man killed in crash

A 22-year-old Salina man died Saturday when the car he was driving left Interstate Highway 135 traveling at more than 90 miles an hour.
Maurice E. Smith, 310 E. North, No. 31, was killed when the car went off the west side of the road near mile post 92 at 4:52 a.m., striking a wire fence and a utility pole by Centennial Road, said Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield.
Police are not working the crash as an accident, Mansfield said.

I don't know this individual personally but I work with some of the family involved. Its very rude for one to ask if this was intentional, if GOD called Maurice to be with him he does not say how or when he just calls upon them to be his follower in heaven. Your mother will miss you greatly and forever be in the hearts of many! RIP Maurice.

I am so sorry for the family who is going through this. My prayers are with you. However, I am very angry at the media outlets for giving the incorrect information about the person who died initially. I know this was changed to the correct name now, but it caused me a lot of grief when the incorrect name was originally posted. I have known the person that was originally named in this story for 2 1/2 years now and was devestated because I thought I was going to have to explain to my child, who was friends with the person originally listed as the dead, as to why his friend was now dead. PLEASE get the facts straight before posting them and causing angst for people!
