Three children and five dogs were removed from a Salina home, and a 22-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on charges of animal cruelty and child endangerment.
Kate Aldridge, 1625 Elgin, is accused of endangering three children all younger than 5 by having them live in unfit conditions and malnourishing three full-grown dogs and two puppies, said Lt. Scott Siemsen, criminal investigation commander with the Salina Police Department.
Siemsen said police were called to the home shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check on the two adult and two young dachshunds and one full-grown boxer mix. The dogs were taken to the Salina Animal Shelter, he said.
The children were taken into police protective custody, he said. More arrests are possible, he said.
