KWU debaters place in tournament

Kansas Wesleyan University's debate and forensics team competed at Webster University in St. Louis this past weekend, with 98 teams from schools around the country also competing.

KWU won the traveling Gorlock trophy, awarded to the school that has accumulated the most points at the tournament over the years, and also placed third overall in individual events.

The debate team of Kourtney Maison and Tonya Powers placed fourth, and Zack Brown and Sean Grove placed third.

In individual events, Kieffer Storrer won second place in forensics criticism and sixth in after-dinner speaking.

Maison placed first in forensics criticism, she placed fourth in the pentathlon and was rated "excellent" in prose.

Allexis Lightsey took fourth in prose, and Brown took third place.

Maison and Lightsey also placed sixth in duo interpretation.
