Concordia girl to represent Kansas in Junior Miss
A Concordia girl has been chosen to represent Kansas in the national finals of the American Junior Miss Scholarship Program in June.
Mallory Gilliland won the title of Kansas' Junior Miss 2009 in the March 28 state competition in Belleville. Gilliland was awarded more than $3,000 in cash scholarships.
Other scholarship winners at the state contest included Lynsey Hergott, of Belleville, who was named first runner-up and overall scholastic winner; and Jenni Waters, of Salina, who received the Be Your Best Self Award.
Gilliland will travel to Mobile, Ala., to compete with representatives of the other 49 states in the 52nd AJM national finals. The winner will receive the title of America's Junior Miss 2009 and a share of more than $150,000 in cash scholarships.
