Woman sentenced for insurance fraud

A Salina woman was ordered to begin serving 30 days in jail by the end of the week unless she has paid more than $25,000 in restitution for fraudulent claims to her health insurance company.
Cindy L. Chambers, 46, 160 Bel Air, pleaded guilty in July in Saline County District Court to felony theft by deception.
District Judge Patrick Thompson sentenced her Monday to two years of probation supervised by Court Services. If she fails to complete the terms of her probation, she faces a one-year prison sentence with a year of post-release supervision.
While employed at a pharmacy, Chambers created at least 35 false receipts for medications in her name and in the names of her two children and submitted them to her health insurance company, Caremark Corp., for reimbursement.
