WESTFALL — A 3-year-old Tescott girl, Danika Pasley, was listed in critical condition, and her twin brother, Justin, was in fair condition Thursday morning at a Wichita hospital.
They were injured Wednesday afternoon when the minivan they were riding in collided with a loaded grain truck two miles north of Westfall.
Their mother, Michele Pasley, 31, and sister, Loni Pasley, 1, were taken to Salina Regional Health Center with possible injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Michele Pasley was eastbound on Grain Drive at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday and collided with the back of the truck driven by Steven Errebo, 54, Sylvan Grove. He was not injured.
Errebo said he pulled the three children and Michele Pasley from the minivan as it caught fire and started a wheat stubble field on fire.
Errebo said he loaded the occupants of the minivan into his truck and drove them to the Westfall Fire Department, where EMTs and other emergency workers took over.
The KHP reported that Justin was flown by air ambulance to Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis campus, of Wichita. Danika was taken to Salina Regional, but Thursday morning she was at the same Wichita hospital.
All of the children and their mother were in safety restraints, according to the patrol.
