Icy roads slow buses

12/19/2008

BROOKVILLE — Icy roads contributed to one Ell-Saline school bus sliding into a ditch Friday morning, and another could not continue its route to pick up students for school. There were no known injuries to students or personnel, said Paul Alexander, middle school-high school principal. Several students were on the buses that couldn’t continue, Alexander said. Engines remained running and passengers stayed warm while other transportation to school was arranged. Classes started on time, but no students were counted as late. School will let out on time at 3:45 p.m., Alexander said, and tonight’s high school basketball games in Brookville, versus Little River, will be played as scheduled. “The forecast for this afternoon is for temperatures above freezing,” Alexander said. Junior varsity games begin at 4:30 p.m. Varsity girls play at 6 and the varsity boys game follows.
