Herington man hurt in crash

HERINGTON — A 24-year-old Herington man was being treated in the emergency room at Wesley Medical Center Wednesday evening after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck a mile south of Herington.
A hospital spokeswoman said no information was yet available on the condition of Allen M. Patterson, who was flown to Wichita from Herington Municipal Hospital. A passenger on the motorcycle, Shannan M. Lee, 20, Hope, was taken to the Herington hospital. A spokeswoman there said no information could be released on her condition.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, the pickup driven by Michelle M. Crenshaw, 42, Manhattan, had slowed to make a U-turn on U.S. Highway 56 at 2:10 p.m. when the motorcycle struck it from behind. Crenshaw, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, according to the report.
Patterson was not wearing a helmet, and Lee was wearing a helmet, the report said.
