DORRANCE — Three gentlemen decided one night in the late 1990s that it would be neat to have a cookout on Dorrance’s Main Street.
It was the beginning of the Dorrance Tailgate Party. The 13th annual party, which has evolved into a fundraiser for worthy causes, begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 5.
“It has just blown out of proportion,” said Rena Hoyt, city clerk at Dorrance, population roughly 250. The town is 15 miles east of Russell.
“We just have a really fun time. It’s for people of all ages,” she said.
