By the Salina Journal

The Kansas Wesleyan University athletic department raised more than $25,000 for Coyote athletics with its first ever "Night with the ‘Yotes" fundraising event May 7 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center.
The money will go into the Coyote Booster Club fund, which helps the department purchase items and fund projects outside of the regular operating budget.
Gerald Lilly, Assaria, was named the first recipient of the Gerald Lilly Award. Lilly is a fervent supporter of Kansas Wesleyan University and has been attending events since 1948 in addition to making donations to the athletic department. The award will be given to individuals or groups who show exceptional commitment and dedication to Kansas Wesleyan University Athletics.
The event included a social hour, followed by a dinner and live auction that featured more than 30 items. A silent auction, with more than 100 items, ran throughout the evening. The evening concluded with entertainment by the Soul Preachers.
