WICHITA -- An Alabama man arrested in Salina in August was sentenced to 32 years in prison for armed robberies in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch announced Monday.
Robert Cameron Foust, 26, of Alabaster, Ala., pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery, one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
In his plea, he admitted that after he was released in August 2009 from state prison in Alabama, he relapsed into abusing cocaine and went on a five-day crime spree including the following acts:
nAug. 21: He used a knife for a robbery at a Movie Gallery video store in Calera, Ala.
nAug. 23: He stole a truck and drove to a pawn shop in Columbiana, Ala., where he stole six firearms; he stole a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass in Wilsonville, Ala.; and he used a gun to for a hold up at a Movie Gallery video store in Warrior, Ala.
nAug. 25: He used a gun for a robbery at a Mapco convenience store in Nashville, Tenn.; he used a gun for a holdup at a Valero Market convenience store in Jackson, Tenn.; he attempted a robbery at a Best Western hotel in Dixon, Tenn., but left empty-handed when the clerk refused to give him the money; and he used a gun for a robbery at a Movie Gallery video store in Conway, Ark.
nAug. 26: He used a gun for a robbery at a Movie Gallery video store in Roland, Okla.; he entered a Family Video store in Newton with the intent to rob the clerk at gunpoint, but changed his mind because there were other people in the store; he used a gun for a robbery at a Little Caesar's Pizza in Newton.
He was arrested later that evening in Salina.
