Republic County reports first swine flu case

BELLEVILLE -- A Republic County child has been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

The latest diagnosis brings the total number of swine flu cases in Kansas to 109, according to the KDHE.

The cases include two Dickinson County adults; one Gove County adult; one Ottawa County child; and one Saline County adult and seven children.

Symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever greater than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, sore throat, respiratory congestion and in some cases diarrhea and vomiting.
