County gets federal funds to replace bridge

3/26/2009

Saline County will receive federal funding to help pay for replacement of the Gypsum Valley Road bridge over Gypsum Creek, 5.3 miles south of the city of Gypsum. According to Neil Cable, county engineer, the county will receive aid through the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users. The Kansas Department of Transportation distributes the federal aid. Federal funds will pay for about 80 percent of the $920,000 project cost. Bids are expected to be let in September 2011.
