A former Oakdale Elementary School nurse pleaded guilty Wednesday to one felony count of possession of a stimulant drug that had been prescribed to an 8-year-old student. Tami Jo Bradley, 39, of Salina, is scheduled for sentencing at 9 a.m. July 30 in Saline County District Court. She faces a possible sentence of 10 months to 3 1/2 years in prison and a $100,000 fine, although a plea agreement negotiated with county prosecutors recommends probation instead of jail time. In entering her plea of guilty, Bradley acknowledged that she had taken a bottle of prescription Vyvanse, a stimulant drug used to treat attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, that she was supposed to administer to a student and replaced it with some pills of a nonstimulant ADHD drug called Strattera. Bradley acknowledged that her urine tested positive for the presence of Vyvanse on April 23. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped four additional felony drug charges and 10 misdemeanor child endangerment charges. Irregularities had been discovered in the dispensing of prescription medication for 10 students between Sept. 1 and Oct. 30, 2008, according to court records. Bradley had worked at Oakdale since the fall of 2005. She was fired in November 2008 after she was arrested, according to school district records. Amy Hanley, an assistant Saline County attorney, said parents of the children involved and school district officials were in agreement that the plea should be accepted.
