Crestwood Inc., a custom cabinet manufacturer at 601 E. Water Well, laid off about 10 percent of its work force Friday.
Affected are 14 workers, the majority in the cabinet production shop, said Mike Junk, president of Crestwood.
While Junk attributes the layoffs to a slowing of business, he said it doesn’t mean the company is in financial trouble or in danger of closing its doors.
“The whole industry is down as a whole, but we haven’t been hit as hard as some cabinetmakers,” he said. “Business is typically slower this time of year, from November through January. We expect it to pick up in the spring.”
