A 33-year-old Salina man is accused of passing counterfeit bills at four Salina businesses over the weekend.
Jason D. Wooster, 159 N. Cherry, is accused of passing fake $100 bills at Racks, 925 W. Lincoln; Bootleggers, 616 N. Broadway; Petco, 2450 S. Ninth; and Rendezvous, 249 N. Santa Fe.
Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said all of the bills had the same serial number. The counterfeiter washed a $5 bill until it was lightened, and then $100 was printed over the top.
Several other businesses reported receiving counterfeit money over the weekend as well. They were: Prime Time, 100 N. Broadway, a $100 bill and two $20s; Dollar General, a $50 bill; Iron Pump, 418 W. Iron, a $20 bill; Bootleggers, an additional $100 bill; 24/7 Store, 2230 N. Ninth, a $100 bill; and Dillard’s, 2259 S. Ninth, a $100 bill.
