Dog bites girl, 14, in the face
CONCORDIA -- Concordia police were searching Friday for a dog that bit a 14-year-old girl in the face. The bite was serious but not life-threatening.
Police did not know where the dog came from or who owned the dog, which was described as a pit bull or boxer-type breed. It began stalking the girl as she walked to school.
Concordia Police Chief Chris Edin told the Concordia Blade-Empire that the dog followed the girl for three or four blocks. When she turned to check where the dog was, it lunged and bit her in the face, according to the newspaper.
The girl was taken to Cloud County Health Center and then transferred to Salina Regional Health Center.
A relative of the girl offered a $100 reward for information leading to identification of the dog and its owner. Anyone with information was asked to call the Concordia Police Department at 243-3131 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
