Church notes

nTenor soloist Corey Braxton will provide special music at the 10 a.m. Mass Sunday at Christ Cathedral, 138 S. Eighth.

nThe First Covenant Church "Crocodile Dock!" vacation Bible school for 5-year-olds through sixth-grade students is 8:45 to 11:50 a.m. Monday through Friday at the church , 2625 E. Magnolia.

nChicago-area speaker Star Paterson will relate life experiences and tell how she replaced fear and anxiety with peace at the Tuesday Christian Women's Luncheon.

The luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Salina Country Club. The cost is $11, or $5.50 for first-time visitors. Reservations are required. Call 643-1944 or e-mail harvettaanne@sbc global.net. Child care is free with a paid reservation, but bring a lunch for your child.

DVACK's Claudette Almaraz will also speak at the luncheon.

DVACK has a list of needed items -- diapers, deodorant, shampoo, trash bags, laundry soap, brooms, baby wipes, hair dryers, conditioner, paper towels, toilet paper, toothbrushes, alarm clocks, bath towels, cleaning supplies, wash cloths, pillows, tote bags of all sizes, new underwear of all sizes, volunteers, baby clothes from newborn to 2T and pots and pans.

Those attending the luncheon are invited to bring an item to donate.

nThe Immanuel Lutheran Church Congregational Picnic is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Oakdale Park, at Shelter No. 1.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, lemonade and table service will be provided. Bring a side dish to share and outdoor games to play. Friends are welcome.

A blues guitar concert will follow at Eric Stein Stage.

nCONCORDIA -- A Christian comedy movie, "Bringing up Bobby," will be shown at the next Teens for Christ Rally at 7 p.m. June 20 at Brown Grand Theatre, 310 W. Sixth in Concordia.

The movie is free and open to the public, but a freewill offering will be taken. For information, call Teens for Christ, (785) 243-1154.

nA Father's Day celebration is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 21 in the Emmanuel Christian Center parking lot, 1325 E. Cloud.

Included are free hot dogs, a classic car show, motorcycle display, children's games and live music with Randy Baldwin.

n First Church of the Nazarene's Praise in the Park is set for 10:30 a.m. July 5 at Eric Stein Stage in Oakdale Park.

The event includes free food and music for the whole family.

n Salina Bible Church, 2100 Quincy, is marking its 80th anniversary with a celebration banquet at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at Webster Conference Center, just north of Interstate Highway 70, off Ohio.

Special services July 12 at the church are set for 9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The speaker at each service is Richard Grubbs, of Texas, son of the late Cleo Grubbs, former pastor at Salina Bible Church.
