n Lisa Armstrong, a registered nurse and administrator of the Fellow Man International project, will deliver the sermon at the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit.
She will also speak at the 10:45 a.m. coffee hour. The community is welcome.
Armstrong will talk about her mission in the remote mountain range in a northwestern portion of Honduras.
The clinic and agricultural program is managed by Fellow Man International, a nonprofit ecumenical organization.
nThe speaker for this month's Mothers' Hour will be Shelia McDaniel, a homemaker who enjoys her role as a homeschool teacher. McDaniel also teaches Sunday school and Scripture Memory System at First Covenant Church.
Mothers' Hour will be from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia. It is an interdenominational ministry whose purpose is to give encouragement to women and parents of preschool and school-age children. There are supervised nurseries for infants and teaching activities for toddlers through 6-year-olds. There is no charge, and child care is free.
n The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth, plan their 22nd annual Cookie Walk from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Holiday cookies cost $6 a pound, along with other edible specialty items and Rada Cutlery.
Cost for chili and potato soup will be $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 5 to 10. The meal is free for children younger than 5.
Santa Claus will come at 6 p.m. and read a story to the children, and there will be a treat for them.
Proceeds go to support missions.
nPhyllis Spurlock will speak at Salina Aglow Lighthouse at 7 p.m. Friday at Faith Word Fellowship, 1019 N. Ninth.
The topic is "Building for the Future."
nUniversity United Methodist Church, Santa Fe and Claflin streets, will hold its annual Mexican Matador Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the forum.
Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and younger. The meal includes pie and coffee or iced tea. Chicken noodle soup will be available for $5.
