nChrist the Lord Community Church, 2520 E. Stimmel, plans a Mortgage Burning Celebration at 4 p.m. today.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Bring a covered dish, lawn chairs and a yard game. A ceremony is set for 6 p.m.
n A second annual Trunk-or-Treat event is 6 p.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church , 743 E. Magnolia.
Activities include a Jumperoo with a climbing wall, slide and jumping area. A spook house, maze and other activities are planned.
An offering is requested for concessions, and proceeds will be donated to Ashby House.
n A retirement celebration for Harry Huber, church organist for 58 years, is set for Sunday.
Huber will be featured at the pipe organ during the 8:25 and 10:45 a.m. worship services at University United Methodist, in addition to special music by soloists and the choirs.
All current and former members and friends of the church are welcome.
Huber will be honored with a reception following the first service and with a lunch at noon.
nTrinity Lutheran Church, Ninth and Crawford, will celebrate 75 years of ministry Sunday.
The guest preacher will be the Rev. Warren Schmidt, son of the first pastor, Walter G. Schmidt, who served Trinity from 1931 to 1948.
The Rev. Warren Schmidt was pastor at Messiah Lutheran in Hays from 1964 to 1971. He will preach at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services, with a potluck dinner following at noon. For more information, contact the church office, 823-7151.
nFirst Presbyterian Church's 150th birthday celebration begins Sunday. The worship service begins at 10:15 a.m. at 308 S. Eighth.
The celebration begins afterward in Blair Hall with Jan Carr's film showing the history of the church and the premier of Sydney Soderberg's DVD collection of pictures she has taken over many years.
n Sessions for Catholics Continuing the Journey, a six-week study and discussion of Scripture, prayer and God's love, begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Parish Center, 230 E. Cloud.
n Ordering dates for Angel Food Ministries are 5 to 7 a.m. Thursday and noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 611 Willis.

Angel Food Ministries was founded in 1994 to provide food for friends and neighbors who were struggling financially. Today, the Angel Food program helps provide food relief to more than 500,000 families each month.
n Marsha Pavkov will be the November Mothers' Hour speaker at First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia. Mothers' Hour, an inter-denominational ministry meant to give encouragement to women and parents of preschool and school-age children, will meet at the church from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
Pavkov is the director of children's ministry at First Covenant Church. There is no charge to attend Mothers' Hour, and childcare is free. There are supervised nurseries for infants and teaching activities for toddlers through age 6.
n The Rev. Don and Shirley Ware of God's Way Ministries, Drexel, Mo., will speak at 7 p.m. Friday at Faith Word Fellowship, 1019 N. Ninth.
n HILLSBORO -- Lester Estelle Sr., a Kansas City area acoustic guitarist, will perform in a come-and-go coffeehouse event from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. Coffeehouse drinks and snacks are free.
n A crafts and bake sale will be 4 to 7 p.m. and a chicken noodle dinner is 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, 2508 Belmont.
The dinner costs $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger.
Proceeds go to the Kitchen Fund.
n RED CLOUD, Neb. -- A Christian comedy movie, "Bringing up Bobby," will be shown at the next Teens for Christ Rally, 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, Red Cloud, Neb.
The program is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken.
Based in Concordia, Teens for Christ is a local, independent, nondenominational youth ministry operating in a 13-county area of north-central Kansas and south-central Nebraska.
n Moms In Touch International is celebrating 25 years of encouraging moms to pray for children and schools with a prayer event, Arise! Cry Out!, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 14.
