A 15-minute car chase ended Tuesday night when the driver crashed into a ditch in Dickinson County, jumped out of the car and ran.
A Saline County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop Edward Swisher, 47, who was wanted on warrants from the Kansas Department of Corrections and Dickinson County, at 8:24 p.m. in Gypsum, said Sheriff Glen Kochanowski. Swisher took off in his silver 1987 Oldsmobile, reaching speeds of 50 to 60 miles an hour in Gypsum and up to 90 mph in the county, Kochanowski said.
Shortly after entering Dickinson County, Swisher lost control of his car on a dirt road and crashed in a ditch. After a foot chase, he was arrested on multiple traffic violations.
Alcohol was believed to have been a factor, Kochanowski said.
