Five people have been arrested on drug and stolen property charges and more arrests are coming, Salina police Capt. Mike Sweeney said Friday.

Sweeney said the case developed after the driver of a car rammed a Salina police car and injured an officer early Thursday morning. The driver, Christopher Wilson, 18, was arrested, and then his four roommates were arrested after a search of their apartment at 213 S. Second, Sweeney said.

Wilson faces charges of burglary, fleeing and eluding, aggravated battery and drug charges. Two of his roommates -- Christopher L. Jones, 29, and Kayla Gene Troxel, 20 -- face charges related to drugs and the stolen property found at their apartment. Maximilian A.R. Wilson, 24, faces obstruction and drug charges, and Robin Garcia, 26, faces drug charges.

Sweeney said officer Briana Buechman was sent to the 200 block of South Second at 2:16 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle.

While investigating, Buechman saw a 1993 White Infiniti drive by. It was being sought in a connection with an aggravated burglary case. Buechman attempted to stop the car at Eighth and Walnut, but the Infiniti turned north on Eighth and east on Iron, reaching speeds of 75 mph.

Buechman followed and reported the driver hit a trash can and drove through a yard at Fifth and Wilson, where the car then rammed her patrol car, rendering it inoperable.

The Infiniti drove off while other officers chased it in their patrol cars. The Infiniti, with flat and shredded left-front and right-rear tires, was seen driving south on Santa Fe in the northbound lanes, Sweeney said.

The car broke down at Santa Fe and Crawford, and the driver fled west on foot. Wilson was arrested after a short foot chase. Officers found drug paraphernalia on Wilson and in the car trunk, Sweeney said.

Buechman was treated for a sore neck and a headache at Salina Regional Health Center, Sweeney said.

Drugs, stolen property

Police searched Wilson's apartment and found more drug-related items and stolen property.

nOct. 28, a basement window was broken to gain entry into the Salina Foot Clinic, 1529 E. Iron, where $100 was taken from a cash drawer, and a door, hardwood floors and countertops were damaged. Two small safes were missing; $500 loss, $245 damage.
