Pilots graduating from Kansas State University at Salina now have an inside track on jobs with American Eagle Airlines.
The university announced Friday that the airline and the college have signed an agreement guaranteeing job interviews with the airline for all qualifying graduates.
The "bridge program" is an excellent opportunity for students wanting to go into commercial aviation, Kurt Barnhart, head of K-State’s aviation department, said in a press release from the school.
American Eagle is a subsidiary of American Airlines.
The benefit to American Eagle is a steady stream of qualified applicants, saving on recruiting, Barnhart said.
"With pilots starting to be in short supply, these arrangements are becoming more popular with the airlines," he said.
