Testimony begins in aggravated battery trial

Saline County District Court jurors Wednesday began hearing details of an evening in July 2008 that started with a group of friends celebrating a birthday.
It ended with one of them paralyzed from the chest down with the tip of a knife embedded in his spine.
The trial of Steven H. Weis Jr., 25, of Brookville, who is accused of stabbing Anthony Napoleone and causing injuries to two other men in the early morning of July 13, 2008, is expected to last three days.
Weis faces one count of intentional aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, two counts of intentional aggravated battery causing bodily harm and one count of criminal use of a weapon.
