ABILENE — Five Abilene teenagers are in custody, accused of burglarizing nine vehicles and stealing numerous items — including a bag containing a loaded gun and a badge from a law enforcement officer’s van.
The gun and badge were recovered.
The boys are accused of starting two of the vehicles and watching them roll backward out of driveways and into a house and a tree.
The five are scheduled to make their first court appearances at 10 a.m. Thursday in Dickinson County District Court.
Dickinson County Attorney Keith Hoffman said the investigation is ongoing, and charges might be added as more residents determine items were stolen from their cars. The vehicle burglaries are believed to have occurred between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, he said.
Jeremy E. Breeden, 18, Abilene, faces nine felony counts of vehicular burglary, five counts of criminal damage to property, four misdemeanor counts of theft, one count criminal deprivation of property and one count of possession of a firearm within five years of a felony conviction. Breeden is being held in the Dickinson County Jail.
Juveniles arrested were Dalton T. Weaver, 16; Tommy Hoolehan, 16; Austin Garver, 17; and Adam Parson, 17. They are being held by the Juvenile Justice Authority in Junction City.
