Pickup truck crashes after driver falls asleep

WaKEENEY — Jessie T. Worthington, of WaKeeney, was driving a pickup truck early Sunday morning near WaKeeney when he fell asleep and hit an embankment head-on, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

Worthington, 18, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney. His condition was not released.

The patrol reported that Worthington was westbound on H Road. The pickup went off the road and crashed at 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of H Road and 280th, about two miles northeast of WaKeeney.
