Salina meeting set to discuss national financial problems

Half a dozen Salina banking, investment and real estate professionals will discuss the national financial crisis and its effects on Salina in a Tuesday town hall meeting sponsored by the Salina Area United Way.
The forum is 7 p.m. at Salina Access Television, Ninth and Ash streets.
Andy Martin, executive director of the Salina Area United Way, will act as moderator. Panelists will be Tom Wilbur, president and chief executive officer of Bank VI; Mollie Carter, president and CEO of Sunflower Bank; Randy Graham, president and CEO of The Mortgage Company; Mark Wedel, managing partner of Wachovia; Brandon Ebert, financial adviser for Waddell & Reed; and Todd Welsh, president and CEO of SalinaHomes. A representative of Consumer Credit Counseling also is expected.
Topics include:
n What’s going on in Salina as a result of the national financial crisis?
n How would you define and characterize the current economic situation in Salina?
n How has your business been affected?
n What have Salina businesses done in response?
n What have individuals been asking and saying?
n What can I do to maintain and improve my financial stability in the current economic environment?
n What are the key components of financial competence that are critical at this time for our community?
Questions also will be taken from the audience.
