BELLEVILLE -- Three people were sent to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash near Belleville Wednesday afternoon.
Tanner J. Allen, 16, Mason L. Ruft, 21, and Payton Ruft, 12, were all taken to Republic County Hospital in Belleville after a crash shortly after 4:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 36, five miles east of Belleville.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Jeep driven by Annette R. Baker, 56, of Haddam, and a 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by Stacey Ruft, 40, of Scandia, were stopped by a construction flagman on US 36. Allen's vehicle hit Stacey Ruft's truck from behind, forcing it into Baker's Jeep.
Mason and Payton Ruft were passengers in Stacey Ruft's truck.
A hospital spokeswoman said she could not report the conditions of the Rufts or Allen.
