Saline County District Judge Jerome Hellmer said Antwon M. Pierce’s actions when he was arrested were revelatory.
Pierce, 29, tried frantically to blow away the white powder from a baggie police found in his pants pocket while he was being arrested after a shooting May 21. He seemed far less concerned about a gun that officers found in the car he’d been riding in, Hellmer said.
“It appeared to the officer your greater concern was the issue of drugs,” Hellmer said.
Pierce was sentenced Thursday to serve 42 months in prison for one count of possession of methamphetamine and 13 months for one count of aggravated assault, for a total sentence of four years and seven months. The drug charge resulted in a longer prison sentence.
