Christopher J. Lyons, 21, of Grand Junction, Colo., was walking along the north side of the highway about one-third of a mile east of the Lincoln/Ottawa county line when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling west. The incident occurred about 3 a.m., the patrol said.

He lived here in Concordia,KS. With his girlfriend, her daughter(that he loved to death), and her mom. He was working here too. He could cheer up anybody. So keep your rude comments to yourself and have some respect for us that knew him.

All that anyone needs to know about Christopher is that he was a great guy with a good heart who could see the good in anyone, I don't know why is was walking along that road that night, our family doesn't know much of anything right now, all that was do know is that our Christopher is gone.

So we have people that do not know the deceased, and we have people who claim that they knew him or were even related to him. The people that did not know him are speculating and the people who claim that they knew him are chastizing the speculators. How about some of his friends and family start telling the rest of us a little about him. Did he like to ski? Was he helpful to people in need? Not that it is any of our business, but why was he in Kansas? Did he find work here? Was he walking across the country for charity? You folks that knew him need to quit being so critical of the speculators. If you want to defend your friend and brother, that would be great. Tell us about him. Let us know why he was such a great fellow and why his premature death was such a loss to society. I, for one, would really like to know more about him. I meant to go to his MySpace page, but forgot about it, and now I will not have a chance until much later today.

To your comment about Salina being a wonderful community. Well, as far as I'm concerned there is nothing but old prejudice people and young drug addicts there. How do you call that fortunate? Along with cops hidding behind their badges - wow thats amazing.

This "guy" was my youngest brother, I find it odd that people would get on here and speculate why he was where he was, or if he had been drinking, perhaps you should be speculating why someone would HIT SOMEONE with a car and leave them there. Our family is devastated.

To My Opinion, Not everyone in the world has a cell phone because not everyone can afford or wants one. I know a few people in their 20s who do not have them. So that could explain why maybe he just didnt want one, and keep in mind cell phone batteries do die.

May you rest in peace Christopher. Your family & friends are absolutely devastated by your loss. It is unfortunate that so many uninformed, insensitive people jump to conclusions & air their hurtful opinions. I know these things have caused much unnecessary pain for your family.

you know it takes alot of people to makes this world. but if your driving late at night, most persons do pay attention to the road. but when you drive down the road and hit something... you should be able to here something that you hit. maybe a life could be saved, if you the driver was paying attention. maybe you should have a guilty conious and do the right thing by turning yourself in. just think it could have been a member of your family..... then what? what would you do if that happened to you?

My Opinion... says....
Most people who have car trouble, will turn on their emergency flashers and try flagging down help, or use a cellphone to call for help. Either way, ALWAYS stay with your vehicle, for SAFETY, and for SECURITY! There are uncooth people who will vandalize or burglarize vehicles left alone on the highway, and there are a chosen few people (not to mention Law Enforcement) who will eventually drive by to help or offer a ride. It is very confusing, that this guy would not have had any form of communication with him, or a vehicle to stay with until help arrived. He must have been drinking and got lost after having car trouble, or possibly he was car-jacked, and that would explain why he would have no cellphone with him, unless he had a cellphone and was just too drunk to call 911...
