Salinans, area residents appointed to boards, panels

By the Salina Journal

Gov. Mark Parkinson has appointed several north-central and northwest Kansas residents to boards and committees.

Larry Turnquist, of Salina, has been reappointed to the Employment Security Review Board. The board hears appeals of decisions on unemployment eligibility made by an unemployment insurance judge.

Dr. Marilyn J. Ray, of Hays, has been appointed to the Governor's Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board. Ray is a medical policy fellow at the Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University, where she also serves as an adjunct faculty member. The Domestic violence board reviews all adult domestic violence-related fatalities.

Alysun Lauck, of Salina, and Kathy Martin, of Clay Center, have been appointed to the Kansas Volunteer Commission. Lauck is a coordinator with The Volunteer Connection. Martin, a member of the Kansas Board of Education, has more than 30 years in education. The Kansas Volunteer Commission prepares a national service plan for the state, ensures outreach to community-based agencies and administers grant programs.
