An investigation into what caused a 5-month-old McPherson boy to become unresponsive Thursday is ongoing, McPherson County Attorney David Page wrote Monday in an email to media.
Page said he had nothing further to report in regard to the child of a McPherson County detention officer.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is looking into the circumstances surrounding the Thursday afternoon onset of the child’s symptoms.
The boy was placed in protective custody Friday after McPherson police received information that the child’s symptoms could have been caused by abuse, according to a statement issued Friday by McPherson Police Chief Robert McClarty.
The boy was flown Thursday to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He remained hospitalized Monday, McClarty said.
