No I am not in your world. You are obviously missing the whole point, this story was about someone who was killed. Instead of commenting on the above story, you choose to be offended because someone didn't recognize the valiant efforts of the ever oppressed night shift worker.Get a life! My heart goes out to the families of both men, hopefully there will be some closure for both families.

"crawl back into the world you know" someone dies and you comment on "Night shift workers" maybe it is you that needs to crawl back into the world that you know!

GJ this isn't a new story, it's in the "Most Commented" section. That means as long as people keep commenting, this story will remain on the website, even if it is a year old. So the hurtful, ignorant comments can continue until people find something else to be hateful about.

Who moves at three in the morning? says....
I'll tell you who. The people you all forget about - NIGHT SHIFT WORKERS! Someone who normally works during the day, would move during the day, right? Why? Because those are the hours they normally are NOT sleeping, but working. The SAME goes for NIGHT SHIFT WORKERS. We sleep during the day, and if we move, most likely, to stay on our sleeping schedule, we will move at night. Plain and simple. So take that explanation for what it is worth, and crawl back into your own little world that only you know.

I work for a local news affiliate here in Grand Junction Co, I was told there was a new story on Mr. Lyon's case, but I see it is an old story, not really sure why this is running again. Anyway, I had the opportunity to attend Mr. Lyons's memorial service. Can I just tell you he has the cutest two year old Daughter, her name is Madison. While Mr. Lyons's sister was giving a very sweet euology, his little girl got up on the stand and proceeded to tell everyone in the congregation "HI" I learned that Mr. Lyon's was the youngest of 5, One sister and 3 brothers. He was raised by a single Mother who supported her family by working two or more nursing jobs. His sister talked of his talents such as, writing music and being a very loyal friend. The one thing that stood out about Mrs. Eglets Eulogy about her brother, was that she talked about his struggles and how he had overcome a lot of things in his 21 years. THE ONLY REASON I AM WRITING ABOUT THESE THINGS is because maybe it will stop all of the appalling things that are being said on here, On both sides! I talked with a few of Mr. Lyons's family members, there is not hatred for the suspect, they are waiting to find out the evidence before they make there judgements. Two families are devistated, perhaps you all should remember that before you write your ignorant comments.

What the? says....
Why is the journal running this story again? How about finding out more facts? How about running a story on the beloit hit and run too! On a side note; Who moves at three in the morning! And if you saw someone walking down a highway at three in the morning "not yielding to traffic" wouldn't you call KHP to let them know, so no one GETS HIT!
8/21/2009
Legal says....
So if he was walking in the road, then why didn't the suspect stop when he ran him over?
8/20/2009
? says....
Well considering there was only one person killed and you kept saying "They" seems like you have your facts all wrong. The victim should not have been walking down the highway at 3 in the morning, thats a given, but the suspect should have stopped, or called the police or something. If he had, there probably wouldn't have been any charges. My heart goes out to both families.
8/20/2009
just another poster says....
i heard that there were somepeople that were moving that night and had to slow way down and drive around the victims 2 or 3 times because they were actually on the roadway, and not trying at all to yield to hwy traffic.........

To "Almost hit" The suspect left the scene of a fatal accident. I imagine he has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failure to report a fatal accident, as those are usually the two most common charges in these kinds of cases. If that is the case, then I would say that it is HIS FAULT for leaving the scene. He can't really put any blame on anyone but himself for that one. I just looked it up and he is also being charged with involintary Manslaughter as well. They wouldn't have added these charges if there wasn't enough proof to do so. To me, this is a sad case for everyone involved. And while it is to late for the victim, as far a life goes, it is not to late for justice to be served.

More Charges were filed against the suspect. Sounds like they have quite a bit of proof.

Almost Hit says....
Unless the driver deliberately drove off the road and hit the pedestrian, I would have to say that it's not his fault. I know I've had to walk along a two lane highway many times and I always move ten feet away from the road surface to keep from being hit by cars and trucks. It's too late for this dude, but the rest of you can learn from this incident when you're walking along the roadway.

Stupid ppl suck hit the hammer on the nail....exactly.....how does anyone know that the person was headed home from a bar?? That would be like me saying that Chris was at a party and got in a fight with his gf and thats why he left walking, there are all kinds of things we dont know, who are we to judge???
7/10/2009
Stupid people suck says....
To the person who left no poster name and is ragging on Sue. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps he was headed home from WORK? Not everyone works day time hours, you know!!!

sad to hear says....
it might be a sad situation because someone did die, but no one knows the story from the driver. We can't place blame on him until you know the whole story, I have a feeling something else went wrong and maybe the driver wasn't aware that he actually hit a person.

sue sounds like she knows who did this ...a friend what ...sorry sue but they got a lot of proof...the mud flap and the damage ,,,and when they get the truck blood under it hair under it..even if she or he washed it off they would be blood someone in the wheel deep in side a bolt ..what sue you trying to convenience us they have no proof ,,your crazy ..only proof they don't have is who was driving his or hers truck..I am sure that won't be hard to figure out..he or she that time of the morning is a give away that whoever was mostly coming home from the bar ..I hope they find him and they get a lot of time for that ...they might of been able to save that young man after they hit him they should of called 911,,they might of saved his life

i'm sorry for what the family has to go though. His girlfriends family is part of my life to, but take the time to be respect for others. i know Chris a little , but one thing that I do know is he was wounderful with Brooklyn. i don't care what time it was and when it happened. He should of stopped because he couldn've saved Chris's life and Courbon's life. I LOVE YOU GUYS and GOD LOVES YOU too.I might seemed to cold hearted to say this but "that guy can root in jail"!!!!!!!!!

MT, no. There was a fire in the apts from someone playing with fireworks.

Sally Sue says....
Well, who is the person then that supposedly hit the dog? I think they would have to have A LOT of proof of who did this....including just that it was supposedly a black car does not mean the owner of that car ( even if it has a missing mud flap and broken head light ) is for sure the driver of the car when the person was hit....BUT....doesn't make this right....the person that did it should have stopped, accidents are bound to happen that time of night when someone is walking pitch dark on a highway!!! Sometimes its hard to see people!!!! Had the driver stopped he may not really be in much trouble now!!! A case like this just happened in Wichita and no charges were filed against the person that hit someone!!

Amy Eglet Grand Junction says....
"Stop and think" I think you perhaps should stop and think, a dog is not as important than a family pet, and as far as the person hitting the dog not Christopher.... the person left Chrisopher there..... left him.. do you understand that? I think that is the hardest part to deal with...
7/9/2009

Yes I know the person. But the investigation is still underway. It seems that the person in custody hit the dog, but there is no evidence that they also hit the boy.

I have lost a dear family pet and I have lost loved human members of my family. I can tell you it is sad to lose a pet, but it is nowhere near as devastating as losing a person you love. Please consider that people who love Chris and people who love those people are going to be reading this before you make ignorant comments that make this about anything other than him. God speed.

I totally agree! Out of all of this, that person is more upset about some registered dog? You need to get your priorities straight.

jess... you say that chris's life was more impotant. do you have a pet? if you do then you'll know that that family pet was also very impotant also... can you tell your kids about a pet was killed for no reason? to some they are just as important as any member of your family... stop and think...

KSGUY says....
Please say some prayers for the families of Christopher and of the driver- both will need lots of help in dealing with what has happened- irregardless of the circumstances surrounding the accident. I lost a 23 year old brother 20 years ago in a 'one-vehicle' accident in Mitchell county. Though the true circumstances may never be known, it looked suspicious. We must go on with our lives, and not condemn anyone. Life's too short to be bitter.

Amy Grand Junction Colorado (Sister) says....
I am sorry about your Dog, but can't a dog be replaced? Christopher cannot, he leaves behind a family here in Colorado ( Mother, Grandparents, Sister, Brothers, daughter, and Neice and Nephew) that love him, not to mention his beautiful girlfriend and her daughter, he cannot be replaced.... Your dog can, your comment was a tad ignorant.

arrest made in hit-and-run fatality says....
I truely hope this person pays for what he/she did. Not only did the kill Christopher but they killed a registered blood line Boxer that wasn't even a year old yet. That Boxer was the pet of three little boys that now have to ask where is my puppy and what happened to him. Personally this scumbag should have to pay to replace their dog. No jail time is long enough for what he/she has done.
