âñ The H1N1 flu vaccine is expected to begin to arrive in
Salina in early to mid-October. Within a few months, there
should be enough vaccine to immunize everyone who wants
it.
âñ Earlier doses will go to those most likely to have
complications from the H1N1 flu, and to be exposed to and
spread the H1N1 flu.
âñ The vaccine is free, although some private providers may
charge a small administration fee.
âñ Don't pester the health department. The Salina Journal
and radio stations will be informed promptly when it's
decided when and where specific groups are eligible for the
vaccine.
âñ The first round of vaccines will be the nasal spray LAIV
vaccine, which can be given to health care workers age 49
and younger who have direct patient contact; and, healthy
children, ages 2 to 9.
âñ Call your health care provider or monitor the news media
for dates of public flu clinics in the community.
