Volunteers needed for book drive
Books for Life, the educational branch of Trees for Life in Wichita, is seeking volunteers in the Salina area to help sort used children's books for its "Teach the World to Read" book drive in Dillons grocery stores.
During February, Dillons stores have book drop locations in each of their locations for shoppers to donate children's picture books that are in good condition. The goal is 100,000 books. The books will be used to create libraries in impoverished areas of the United States and in poor countries around the world.
Book sorters may be individuals, couples, clubs, church groups, library groups, student organizations, classes and others.
Responsibilities involve picking up the books at the assigned Dillons store about once a week and sorting and packing the books. The boxes should be returned to the Dillons store, which will transport them to Hutchinson for shipping.
More information is available at www.booksfor life.org/bookdrive.
To volunteer, call Jill Hutton at Trees for Life/Books for Life, (316) 945-6929 or e-mail jill@treesforlife.org.
