Two killed in head-on collision near Hays

HAYS -- Two people were killed in a head-on collision Saturday at the Smoky Hill River Bridge about 10 miles south of Hays.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a car driven by Kayde Sue Malcom, 18, of Gove, was northbound on Kansas Highway 183 at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when it struck head-on a southbound car driven by Warren H. Hall, 81, of Ness City.

A passenger in Malcom's car, Matthew John Cooksey, 25, of Oakley, was taken to Hays Medical Center, where he died. Malcom and a third passenger in the car, Bruce Leon Britton, 50, of Oakley, were airlifted to Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita, where both were listed in serious condition Sunday.

No one in Malcom's car was wearing a safety belt, the KHP report said.

Hall and a passenger in his car, Mary Lou Hall, 79, of Ness City, were taken to Hays Medical Center, where Mary Lou Hall died. Warren Hall's condition was unavailable Sunday. Both were wearing seat belts, the KHP report said.

Please do not pass blame on amyone until all the facts of the accident are know. No matter who is to blame it was a tragic accidentthat claimed the lives of 3 people no matter what age.  Please pray for the familys involved. They are in need of prayer not judgement.
