HILL CITY — Ross D. Breese, 19, of Hill City, was in critical condition Sunday at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Breese was thrown from a pickup truck that rolled Saturday night near Hill City.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Breese was a passenger in the pickup driven by Eric P. Pfeifer, 16, of Hill City. He was not injured.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

The pickup was westbound at 11:55 p.m. Saturday on O Terrace, about three miles southwest of Hill City. The KHP reported that Pfeifer entered a curve traveling too fast, slid sideways into the north ditch and rolled once, ejecting Breese before landing on its wheels facing southeast.

Breese was taken to Graham County Hospital, Hill City, and then flown to the Wichita hospital.
