Broberg named CEO of Manhattan hospital

MANHATTAN — Former Salina Regional Health Center administrator John Broberg has been appointed president and CEO of Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan, according to a news release from Mercy hospital.
Tracey DeBruyn, hospital board chairwoman, said the board unanimously selected Broberg from among three finalists following a search that attracted more than 140 applicants.
Broberg was appointed acting CEO of Wamego City Hospital in March 20, 2007, and accepted the job on a permanent basis in June of that year.
He has been serving as the acting chief operating officer for Mercy. His appointment is effective immediately.
According to the news release, Broberg will continue to work with the Wamego hospital administrative team to provide oversight while the Wamego board begins to look for a new CEO.
Mercy Regional Health Center is located in Manhattan. It employs nearly 1,000 people and supports a medical staff of more than 140 physicians.
