CLAY CENTER — John McDaniel, 11, son of Scott and Sheila McDaniel of Salina, has qualified to compete in the 2009 National Bible Bee contest, to be held Nov. 5-6 in Washington, D.C.
McDaniel ranked among the top 300 contestants nationwide out of a field of 17,000 entries. He and was one of two winners of the regional Bible Bee, held Sept. 12 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. The Bible Bee is a national Bible memory competition for children ages 7 to 18.
The Bible Bee competition will distribute more than $260,000 in prize money with $100,000 being awarded to the first-place winner of the top age bracket.
