Confidential memory screenings offered
Salina Comfort Keepers offers free, confidential memory screenings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at 234 N. Seventh, Suite D, as part of National Memory Screening Day.
The event is part of an initiative of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, designed to promote proper detection of memory problems and strategies for successful aging. As many as 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease, according to an AFA release.
The AFA suggests memory screenings for adults who are concerned about memory loss or who are experiencing the warning signs of dementia, or if family and friends have noticed changes in them, or those who believe they are at risk because of a family history of Alzheimer's disease or a related illness. Screenings also are appropriate for people who do not have a concern right now, but who want to gauge their memory for future comparisons.
Comfort Keepers is an in-home care agency. For information on the screenings, call 825-1055.
