'Around the World' author to speak in Concordia

CONCORDIA -- Award-winning author Marty Essen will present his digital slide show, "Around the World in 90 Minutes," as part of the Charles and Marian Cook Lecture Series at Cloud County Community College.

The presentation will be 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Brown Grand Theatre, 310 W. Sixth. The event is free and open to the public.

Essen will also perform an abbreviated version of his show, "Around the World in 50 Minutes," at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 in Cook Theatre on the Cloud County Community College campus.

"Around the World in 90 Minutes" began as a show Essen presented in bookstores as part of his first book tour. Later, after numerous refinements, the show took on a life of its own in colleges, museums and nature centers. The show features interesting facts, humorous stories and the best of thousands of photos he took while traveling the world for his book, "Cool Creatures, Hot Planet: Exploring the Seven Continents."
