Events mark the conclusion of 'Ike's Abilene' program
ABILENE -- Fireworks, a concert, a Kansas community salute to soldiers and their families and reduced admission prices to view exhibits will be offered at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum on Saturday.
The events mark the conclusion of the months-long "Ike's Abilene" program, and they honor a special group of soldiers and their families.
Festivities begin with a free band concert by Fort Riley's 1st Infantry Division Band at 7 p.m. on the steps of the Eisenhower Presidential Library. Following the concert, there will be a fireworks display choreographed to the music of the early 1900s.
Admission to the museum will be $5 all day, and free admission will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. The chapel, library and visitors center will remain open until 9 p.m. Tours of the Boyhood Home will be offered until 8 p.m.
KSAL's Rich Alexander will broadcast live from the grounds of the library and museum from 4 to 6 p.m.
