Central Kansas Free Fair is Aug. 3-9
ABILENE -- The 87th Central Kansas Free Fair will be Aug. 3-9 at the Eisenhower Park Fairgrounds, nine blocks west of Third and Buckeye streets.
A fair parade will begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 4 in downtown Abilene. There also will be a rodeo, demolition derby, arm wrestling tournament, talent show, carnival rides, fair food, grandstand entertainment, a chain saw artist, minnow races, pedal pulls and exhibits that include livestock, baking, photography, crafts, clothing, gardening, art and sewing.
New to the fair this year is Professor Farquar's Great American Medicine Show, an authentic re-creation of medicine shows that toured the nation 100 years ago. Shows will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 through 6 on the free stage.
A free street concert from Ottawa-based band T-Marv and Hammerdown, a country and top 40 band, will be at 8 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 at the fairgrounds.
Grandstand entertainment adult tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 6 through 12 cost $6. Rodeo passes, good for all four nights, cost $30. Demo derby passes, good for all three nights, cost $23.
