Kansas City Barbeque Society coming to McPherson

McPHERSON -- Get the best seat in the house to judge some world-class barbecue when the Kansas City Barbeque Society comes to McPherson on March 5.

The McPherson Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee is sponsoring the judging class presented by the barbecue society at the McPherson 4-H Building, 600 W. Woodside.

The class is for people interested in becoming certified judges and for people who might be considering entering a barbecue contest, so they can learn how their entries are judged, said Jennifer Burch, executive director of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce.

The class is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $80 for non-KCBS members and includes tuition, a one-year membership to the society and a one-year subscription to the monthly Bullsheet. For society members, the fee is $45.

The Kansas City Barbeque Society is the largest barbeque organization in the world, with more than 10,000 members and nearly 300 sanctioned events.
