SMOLAN — Saline County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the Hickory Tree restaurant Thursday morning to investigate a burglary, and they returned to Salina with two suspects. Sheldon Freeman, 18, of Smolan, and Brandon Luttig, 18, of Lindsborg, were arrested in connection with the burglary and theft of old coins, money, beer and soft drinks from the restaurant. Most of the $9,494 in property was returned, said Sheriff Glen Kochanowski. Estimated damage to a window screen that was destroyed was $25. The men face charges related to the burglary. Freeman faces additional charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
