Officers believe arrested man wearing stolen clothes

11/5/2009

A Hesston man who had previously been banned from Central Mall was caught allegedly shoplifting at mall stores Wednesday night and was accused of driving a stolen car to the mall.
Salina Deputy Police Chief Carson Mansfield said Cortez L.A. Amos, 27, was believed to be wearing stolen clothing when he was booked in to the Saline County Jail.
Amos was wanted on warrants from several other counties. When Salina police contacted other law enforcement agencies about his arrest, they were told that he may be driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Mansfield said. The vehicle was located in the mall parking lot, he said.
Police confiscated a pair of Dockers, Timberline shoes, a T-shirt, sunglasses, a pair of jeans and a black leather jacket that were all believed to have been stolen from mall stores, Mansfield said.
