Captain named to head county corrections division

3/12/2010

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski announced Friday that Roger Soldan has been promoted to captain and will assume command of the county jail March 22.
Soldan was named captain in charge of the Adult Corrections Division, replacing Capt. Al Augustine, who is retiring after 35 years with the sheriff’s office. Saline County commissioners are hosting a reception for Augustine at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Soldan has been employed by the sheriff’s office since 1988, when he was hired as part of the juvenile corrections staff. In 1989, he moved to the adult jail, and then moved to road patrol in 1991.
He was promoted to sergeant in August 1998 and became a lieutenant in the patrol division in February 2001.
Kochanowski said Soldan brings years of experience to his new position. He said he was selected out of a field of good candidates for the post.
