Salina police round up 16 in drug bust
11/24/2009
ERIN MATHEWS
Ten Salina homes were searched and 16 people were arrested Monday as the result of a seven-month investigation dubbed Operation Full Throttle involving a methamphetamine distribution organization.
During the searches, officers seized about 9.5 ounces of meth, more than five pounds of marijuana, $12,500 in cash and eight firearms — including a sawed-off shotgun, according to a news release from the Salina Police Department.
According to the news release, the meth distribution ring was responsible for importing and distributing about 2 pounds of meth a week from drug sources outside of Salina.
Those arrested and identified as being primarily responsible for the drug distribution, according to the news release, were: Brianna Lynn Jacobson, 26, 215 E. Borgmeyer, No. 10, Assaria; Jason Eugene Vermillion, 33, 2774 Berschel, No. 206, Salina; Shawn Dean Vermillion, 29, 415 E. Claflin, Salina; Kacie Renae Stimatze, 31, 215 E. Borgmeyer, No. 10, Assaria; Justin Jeremy Barke, 32, 215 E. Borgmeyer, No. 10, Assaria; and Jonathan Michael Gordon, 29, 618 N. 13th, Salina.
Also arrested for crimes that included drug and weapons charges were: Kamber M. Hulsey, 21; Patrick M. Young, 30; Patricia F. Linton, 30; Jeffrey B. Powell, 35; Christina A. Thayer, 28; Jaime R. Preciado-Rivera, 23; Brad S. Holmes, 30; Alexandria M. Bussart, 21; Scott A. Phoutavong, 29; and Rashode Forsey, 14.

How about hats off to those who practice common sense, self control and self respect and don't ever start doing drugs. Unfortunatley there are grandparents, sometimes elderly grandparent(s) who have to step in and raise children because the parent is a drug addicted looser. Hats off to those grandparents too.

I say EVERYONE in Salina needs to be careful, we now have alot of people coming off meth. and the withdrawals alone can be very scary..It's like no one considered the after-math of the bust, and how innocent people could be in danger.

This comment is for "say no to drugs". It seems to me that you don't remember anything that you say. I am simply stating that my "addiction" is not affecting me getting somewhere in life. You stated in your first post on this article that people getting high can't get anywhere in life and I am telling you that I have and smoking weed has not stopped me from doing this. Try remembering what you say and what you are arguing.

Well, i'm a recovering addict. And who ever said that no one cares about your addiction, that is so not true! I care. And sometimes all it takes to get clean and off the streets is to get busted. I don't believe they are low lives. have any of you tried meth. That stuff is very addicted. My hats are off to anyone who can just quit, or never do it again after the first try. Yeah i do not agree with drug dealing trafficking and all that. i know that people who use meth are criminals. I use to be one. I don't agree with my past, and i hate it. but all i can do now is look toward the future. I've been off of it for 4 years now. And i thank god, there was someone out there to care about my addiction, or i wouldn't be where i'm at today! There is hope! People definately deserve second chances.

All drug dealers and users are undesirables.... they are scurge.... they belong behind bars as long as they choose to break the law. For those of you that are confused - the DTF is a separate unit from the SPD. And the Drug war is NOT illegal.. Thank you DTF for your service... NOW we as the community need to stand up, report and ask "who's next?" Who wants to spend some holidays, birthdays, special occasions...BEHIND BARS?

Well being:
Quit trying to justify that you are a criminal as well if you are smoking weed. You keep stating that you work a public job and seem quite proud of the fact that you are able to hide your illegal activities. WHEN you get busted, I bet that your very "profitable public" job will be yours no longer. Once again, no one cares about your addiction.

Journal Reader says....
I would like the poster who commented that "if people could make money like the wealthy they wouldn't have to resort to selling drugs" to explain WHY he or she believes they are entitled to anything they haven't earned? In this day and age you accumulate wealth one of two ways: you inherit it or you work your backside off and EARN it. You go to school. You study. You do the work. You go to work and continue to work, day in and day out. You work your way up the financial ladder. You save your money. You don't blow it on the latest "gotta' have it" toy. In other words, you get your head squarely on your shoulders where it belongs, you take responsibility for yourself and you stop expecting things to be handed to you. Your comment tells the world that you are lazy, shiftless, arrogant, self-centered and essentially good for nothing. You and all of those who think like you are nothing more or less than losers.

This is for "say no to drugs". I was only informing the readers that not all "dopey criminals" are jobless and don't pay their bills like MOST of the Salina people would love to believe. At the end of your ridiculous rant you stated that maybe we could work a regular job. Well if you didn't read my first post I will reinterate that I work a very profitable PUBLIC job and use my money to pay my bills first before buying weed. That's right a public job which means I deal with the EVERYDAY. Oh no a "dopey criminal" that works in the public eye. Call the law on that one lol.

Ha! One of those girls used to make fun of me in middle school because I had "poor kid clothes" and had never kissed a boy. Well, I worked hard, went to college, and joined the service. Now I have the job I want, a husband who is wonderful and very nice clothes. Anyone can succeed with a little integrity and determination. That's how the wealthy make their money- hard work and education.

I am so glad that these bottom feeding scumbags were rounded up and herded into custody. No one has to RESORT to being a loser in this country. If you don’t believe me you can ask many of my friends who with no help from anyone, and much difficulty through childhood, managed to become contributing and affluent individuals. Most don’t even have college educations. Quit believing the myths, and understand some common sense. Honest diligent hard work will take you places. No one is to blame for the way your life is but you, yourself. One of my friends is paralyzed from the waist down from an accident, and even he takes ownership for his life while working to fully support himself. So if you are in better shape than him, you are DEFINITELY without excuse. As for “Well Being, you are unbelievable to use this report as a platform for your ILLEGAL habit! You say it doesn’t hurt anyone. You are hurting yourself with your unwise choice. You have foolishly wasted money on something that most of the rest of the world wouldn’t. While you puff your money up in clouds, I have regularly given monies to non-profits, have five beautiful homes, and many other investments. So the question is… would you rather help others and receive dividends, or own a bunch of foul smelling weeds? Only the fool would pick the weeds.

To Well Being:
Who asked you for your own personal addiction information? I hope that some day the SPD knocks on your door and then when you are in jail for having possession of an ILLEGAL substance, there will be one less dopey criminal on the streets.
An illegal substance is just that, illegal.
And whoever made the comment about "if people could make money like the wealthy they wouldn't have to resort to selling drugs", that is truly stupid. Who in their right mind would make a statement like that? People need to quit making excuses for breaking the law, and be held accountable for their actions. Maybe if they quit spending their money to get "high", they could work a regular job and try to get somewhere in life. You don't have to be a drug dealer to do it!

Good job SPD for getting the METH and guns off of the street. But the weed is not going to hurt anyone. I know alot of people out there are going to have something to say about weed leading people to meth or that weed is a drug. I have smoked weed for years. I work a public job, go to work everyday and have never tried another drug. Oh yeah I pay all of my bills and when I get "high" I don't think about hurting others. So lets see what negative things people have to say now, I am sure their will be a few.
